FAQ

Questions parents ask first.

Privacy, what ClassCal reads, setup, languages, accuracy and cost.

What it does

What will I actually see each day?

One screen for the day ahead: what to pack, what to do, homework and what's happening, for each child. In the evening it shows tomorrow. Tap anything to see the message it came from.

I already read the groups myself. Why would I need it?

Keep reading them if you like. ClassCal makes sure nothing slips past you: it catches the dates, payments and things to bring buried in the chatter, puts them on the right child's day and answers questions about them later.

Which languages does it work with?

Groups in any language are translated into English as messages arrive, with the original one tap away. Groups already in English work as they are.

How accurate is it? Can it make things up?

Every task, event and answer links to the message it came from, with the exact words highlighted. Dates, times and amounts it cannot quote from a message are left out, not guessed. If something is still wrong, flag it and it stays corrected.

Does it work for kindergarten, clubs and sports groups too?

Yes. Any WhatsApp group works: kindergarten, school, clubs, sports and the parents' committee. Give each group to a child and its items land on that child.

Privacy and safety

Who can see my chats?

Only you. ClassCal reads only the groups you switch on, and keeps them in your own private account that no other account can open. It sees the names of your other chats so you can choose, but never reads or stores their messages. Read the privacy policy

Is my data used to train AI?

No. To translate and find what matters, messages from your chosen groups are processed by our AI provider, OpenAI. Under its business terms it does not train on them, and it deletes them within 30 days. Phone numbers are never used to identify people.

Does it post or reply in my groups?

No. ClassCal only reads. It never sends, replies, reacts or marks anything as read.

Will other parents or the teacher know?

No one is notified and nothing changes in the group. ClassCal works like WhatsApp Web on your own account: it reads, for you, what you can already read, and never shows those messages to anyone else.

How do I delete my data?

Email privacy@atticusailab.com from the address you signed up with. We delete your account and everything in it, and confirm by email, normally within 7 days. Photos and files are deleted automatically after 90 days anyway. Email privacy@atticusailab.com

Getting set up

Do I need a computer?

Yes, for now. A small helper runs on a Mac or Windows computer at home and keeps ClassCal connected to WhatsApp. When the computer is off, new messages wait and catch up when it is back on. A version that needs no computer is planned.

How long does setup take?

About ten minutes. You paste one line we give you into your computer, scan a QR code with WhatsApp on your phone, then choose your school groups and match them to your children. ClassCal walks you through every step.

Is there an app?

ClassCal runs in your phone's browser on iPhone and Android, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

Will it remind me, or do I have to open it?

For now you open ClassCal to see your day; it updates as messages arrive. Reminders that come to you are on the way.

Can my partner or co-parent use it?

One account per family today, so one parent connects WhatsApp and signs in. Separate access for a partner or co-parent, including across two homes, is coming.

Cost and access

What does it cost?

Nothing during early access, and no card is needed. We will tell you the price before anything changes, and you can leave at any time.

How long until I get access?

We invite families in small groups so every family gets a smooth start. Join the waitlist and we will email you when your invite is ready.

Can I turn it off?

Yes, at any time. Switch a group off in Settings, or open WhatsApp, go to Linked devices and remove ClassCal. It stops reading at once.

Who is behind ClassCal?

ClassCal is made by Atticus AI Lab, run by Josh Unsdorfer, a parent who built it to keep up with his own children's school groups. Write to contact@atticusailab.com any time. Email contact@atticusailab.com
